Roger Lee Hurd

October 28, 1951 — March 22, 2024

Roger Hurd, 72, passed away on March 22, 2024. He was born in Mount Hope, West Virginia, and was the son of the late James Hobert and Dorothy (Carter) Hurd. Roger is survived by his son, Roger Lee Hurd Jr.; grandchildren, Trinity Kerns (Jessie), Zoe Hurd, and Kaylee Hurd; great-grandchild, Oaklynn Hurd; sister, Nancy Hurd; loving girlfriend, Tori Shackett; and niece, Teresa Reefe (Scott). He also leaves behind dozens of dedicated friends that were like family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James (Jimmy) William Hurd.


Roger followed in his father’s footsteps working as a skilled technician in the auto body repair trade for over 40 years. Beyond his work, Roger found joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, playing darts and cornhole, watching NASCAR races, bingo nights, and hosting crab feasts with his friends and family. Roger loved his family and friends more than anything, and he was the heart of every gathering, his contagious laughter filling every room he entered. The love, laughter, and bonds he shared will live on, bringing joy to all who were lucky to have him in their lives. Roger was also a lifelong member of Moose International which exemplified his commitment to service and fellowship.


A Celebration of Life for Roger will take place on April 27, 2024, at 4:00 PM, at the College Park Moose Lodge located at 3700 Metzerott Rd, College Park, MD 20740. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association in honor of Roger Hurd’s memory.
