It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Alan Melvin, who left this world on October 14, 2025, in Severn, Maryland, at the age of 74, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
Memorial service to celebrate and honor Alan's life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 11:15a.m. at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, Maryland.
We will have a Flower Petal Release afterwards at his fishing spot at the Severn River Bridge at 2001 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd in Annapolis, MD. We will also have the kids blow bubbles in his remembrance while we play some of his music.
Born in Milton, Florida, Alan lived a life defined by dedication, integrity, and an unwavering love for his family.
Alan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, including a tour during the Vietnam War, and continued his sense of duty as a federal civil servant and Communications Specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency, dedicating many years before retiring.
Beyond his career and service, Alan found joy in life’s quieter moments. He loved the calm of fishing and the simple satisfaction of tending his garden. With a gentle touch, his plants flourished, bringing beauty to the yard and fresh bounty to the family table. Time by the water brought him peace—and often a good catch to share. His humor and warmth were constants in his life; he loved to laugh, play lighthearted pranks, share funny shows and song parodies and share his favorite music with those he loved most.
Alan was welcomed into heaven by his beloved parents, Cleo and Nora Melvin, and his brothers, Frank and Anthony Melvin.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 51 years, Kuei Fang “Patty” Melvin, and by his daughters, Nora (Keith) Bianco and Rita (Jacob) Gude, both of Maryland, who filled his life with love and happiness. He was a deeply cherished grandfather to Giana Gude, Eli Bianco, and Olivia Bianco, who will forever carry his warmth, humor, and love in their hearts.
Alan also leaves behind his sisters, Shelia (Melvin) Pommerening and Sharon (Melvin) Foley of Pace, Florida, and Myra (Melvin) Martin of Bend, Oregon who will miss him dearly.
Alan’s warmth, laughter, and love will be remembered by all who knew him, leaving a lasting legacy of goodness, joy, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
