Albert Elijah Gibbons Jr. passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and quiet devotion to his family. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Al served his country with honor and carried that same sense of dedication and integrity throughout his life.
Al was the beloved husband of Betty Jean Gibbons, with whom he shared over 60 years of partnership, laughter, and adventure. He was a devoted father to Bryan Gibbons and his wife Anne, and Kathy Johnson and her husband Mark. Nothing made him prouder than his four granddaughters—Josie, Alex, Quinn, and Aubrey—who always managed to put a smile on his face.
Al is lovingly remembered by his sister, Linda Pappas, who knew him best as Sonny, and her husband Basil. He is now reunited with Linda's first son Gregory in heaven. Her other two sons, Michael and Andrew, along with extended family and many dear friends will also miss him greatly.
Those who knew Al knew he did things his own way—stubborn as they come, but in the best possible way. He had a dry sense of humor and loved giving people a hard time just for fun. Even when he wasn’t one for big shows of affection, he had a way of making people laugh and feel cared for in his own unmistakable style.
A man of strong faith, Al loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Forge Road Bible Chapel, where he found fellowship and genuine friendship. His life reflected what he believed in—honesty, humility, and taking care of others without needing any spotlight.
Al will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, and the faith that guided him each day. His legacy lives on in the family he loved in his own way and the many lives he touched—with a joke, a grin, and that stubborn spark that made him who he was.
