Albert Grainger, 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his home in Catonsville, MD. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Dorothy (DeSena) Grainger; his three children, Jeffrey Grainger (Bridget), Andrew Grainger, and Tracy Weeks (Tom); his three step-daughters, Gabriella Starita, Celeste Starita, and Laura Starita (Karsten Scherer); and four grandchildren, Daulton Grainger, Sofia Scherer, Stella Scherer, and Raiden Weeks.
Albert was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of E. Frances Grainger and Albert Leon Grainger of Worcester, MA. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era as a cook. He went on to pursue his career in the heart unit at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, WA, and served as a Nurses’ Assistant, caring for patients and assisting nurses and doctors.
Also known as “Big Al”, he loved to travel, cruise at open sea, play cards, garden, raise chickens, cook, collect chessboards, and sing. Sing loudly he did, with equal pleasure as he could share silence and a loving presence. He gave his love unconditionally, and we pray that the Spirit has lifted him onto a new journey, a new path, and into a new song.
