Audrey Snowden (nee Lawson) passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 18, 2026, after facing years of health challenges with strength and grace. She was born on April 25, 1954, to Bettie and Joseph Lawson, in Baltimore, Maryland, at Providence Hospital. Audrey was the youngest of their four children.
She grew up in East Baltimore, attending John Wesley United Methodist Church. She graduated from Eastern High School. Audrey worked at ACI – American Credit Indemnity Company for over 10 years. There she was trained by and met people who would become lifelong friends. She left ACI when her youngest daughter was starting school to start a daycare. She ran the daycare until she went into business with her sister, Delores, and late aunt, Ellen Elliott. The jewelry and accessories business DEA. The name derived from each of their first initials. Their business thrived in several of the local malls. Audrey would later go on to be a caregiver through a local agency. She performed these duties with the utmost care until it was no longer possible due to back issues.
Seven years ago, she took the leap to have back surgery and ultimately, she never fully recovered leaving her disabled. She fought through every challenge that came her way, but in the end, it became too much.
Audrey had such a giving spirit. She would give you her last dime or try to feed you if she could. She loved her game shows, drama series, and reality tv.
She joins in rest: her father, Joseph Lawson Sr.; her mother, Bettie Lawson; her brother, Joseph Lawson Jr.; her sister, Carrie Brailsford (Albertus Sr.).
Audrey leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughters, Dawn Ward(Kenneth) and Latisha Snowden; grandson, Jawaun Snowden; great-granddaughter, Demi Snowden; sisters Barbara Jewell (Elton) and Delores Lashley; nephews, Keith Lashley (Carman), Albertus Brailsford Jr.(Pamela); nieces Sharon Lucas(Scott), Saundra Brailsford, Tonia Jewell-Vines; a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and host of wonderful friends.
At this time, arrangements for services to celebrate Audrey’s life are still being made. The family will provide details at a later date for those who would like to share in her memory.
