Barbara Marie Moore, a devoted mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at Sunrise of Columbia Assisted Living in Columbia, Maryland. She was 81 years old and had been receiving hospice care in her final days.
Born on September 30, 1943, to Walter and Edith Driedric, Barbara led a life marked by warmth, dedication, and an unwavering willingness to support others. She had a distinguished career as an Executive Assistant at the Pentagon, where she served the Department of Defense with grace and precision, famously known for "keeping generals in line."
Barbara cherished time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Jeannette and her husband Todd Wagner, and Jennifer and her husband Terry Ravine; her stepchildren Gary and his wife Pamela Moore, Deborah Moore, and James and his wife Jeneen Moore; dear friends Rose Grossman, Linh Eier, Kathleen Johnston, and Lynn Meier; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Moore, and her parents, Walter and Edith Driedric.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Barbara found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her garden, dining out with friends, going on outings, and completing jigsaw puzzles. She had a special fondness for vanilla ice cream and vanilla milkshakes, which never failed to lift her spirits. Barbara also had a lifelong love of animals, especially the many cats, dogs, and horses she cared for throughout her life. Her gentle nature and deep compassion extended to all creatures, great and small
Those who knew her will remember her as a loving, caring, and generous woman, always eager to help others and brighten someone's day.
A small gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's memory to Rikki's Refuge Animal Sanctuary, an organization that reflects her love for animals.
