Beverly Karen Kreuz, 65, of Jessup, Maryland, passed away peacefully in her home on January 15, 2025 after a courageous journey with cancer.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 44 years, Albert Kreuz, and her two children, Matthew Kreuz and Stephanie Kreuz, as well as the beloved family dog, Cookie, and her granddog, Honey. She is also survived by her father, Harold Russell, and sister, Laura Radford, both of whom affectionately called her by her middle name, Karen. She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia “Judy” Russell and her brother, Michael Russell.
Beverly was born on January 5, 1960 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Being in a military family, Beverly resided in multiple places throughout her childhood including Germany as a young child and the Greek island of Crete in her teenage years which she spoke of fondly. The Russell family eventually moved to Fort Meade, Maryland. She then attended Meade Senior High School and worked at a local McDonald’s where she would meet her future husband.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, decorating her house, reading books, walks with her dog, watching her favorite movies cozied up with popcorn, outings with her family to local historical areas like Savage Mill and Ellicott City, and spending quiet evenings at home. As was family tradition for several decades, Beverly loved to vacation with her two children and husband in Ocean City, Maryland for the summer. Many fond memories were made there until their last trip to the beach together as a family of four in August 2024.
Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Beverly had a long and successful career working for Bell Atlantic which would later become Verizon. After an early retirement from corporate life, she went on to start her own business on Etsy in 2014 called “Stitched by Beverly.” She sold handmade aprons and home goods for ten years. A talented sewist her entire life, including making Halloween costumes for her children, Beverly poured her heart and soul into every stitch.
Beverly was known to family and friends as kind, sweet, generous, and thoughtful. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family is holding a private Celebration of Life to remember the wonderful person that she was. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beverly’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
