On February 24th 2026 Bruce Freeland Gemmill passed away peacefully at Brightview Catonsville. He is survived by his loving spouse Phyllis ( Pam) Gemmill of 65 years, his son Michael Gemmill and wife Mary, his daughter Christine Borowy and husband Craig, his daughter Mary Leigh Yakel, and his daughter Stephanie Sweeney and husband John. He was a loving Grandfather of Taylor Seabrook and husband Sean, Kelley Held and husband Aaron, Shannon Borowy, Richard Yakel Jr., Michelle Gemmill, Matthew Yakel, Rachel Beaulieu and husband Richard, Abigail Sweeney and William Sweeney. He was the Great Grandfather of Connor and Declan Held, Cohen and Banks Seabrook. Bruce retired from Prudential Insurance Company where he worked for 35 years as a successful insurance agent. After retirement, he spent many years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a faithful fan of the Orioles, Ravens and Maryland basketball. Bruce enjoyed many hours playing cards and golfing with friends. During his two years at Brightview, Bruce was treated with care and respect and made many additional friends with both the residents and staff. Bruce can be remembered for being devoted to his faith and family. He had a great sense of humor, was complementary, personable and known for his quick wit. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, and cherished his many family vacations. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark's Chapel in Catonsville on March 12, 2026 at 10:00am. There will be a Celebration of Life immediately following at Kelsey's Restaurant in Ellicott City. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude's Research Hospital and Little Sisters of the Poor.
