Claudia Jean Chapman

The family of Claudia Jean Chapman announces her peaceful passing on November 24, 2025, in Ellicott City, MD. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final hours, including her sister Rose Margolis and brother-in-law Mike Margolis; her daughter, Julie Mathers; and her nieces, Stacy Saltsman and Christy Pinsky.

Claudia is survived by her children, David Mathers and Julie Mathers; and her grandchildren, Maya Mathers, Sadie Badagliacca, and Sofia Badagliacca. She is also survived by her siblings Rose Margolis, Debbie Masters, and Jo Chapman, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Katherine Chapman and by her siblings Sandy Layman, Virginia “Ginny” Barker, Joyce Terry, and James “Denny” Chapman. Family and friends will remember Claudia for her independence, her lifelong desire to learn, and her spirit of kindness and compassion for others.
