Constance “Connie” Beaman Renner died at her home on January 21, 2026, from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 80.
Connie was born Constance Witter Beaman on August 16, 1945, in Durham, North Carolina, to David Webster Beaman, Jr. and Ruth Anderson Beaman. The family later returned to their hometown of Poughkeepsie, New York, where Connie grew up the third of six siblings. Five siblings were born to David and Ruth: Anne, Debby, Connie, Tom, and David “Pete.” After Ruth died in 1951, David married Jane Lawrence, and together they had another son, John.
In 1967, Connie graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts with a degree in Physical Education. After graduation, she worked as a director for the YMCA in Cincinnati, Ohio, for nine years. She met Wendel Dean Renner at a dance at the Y, and they were married on May 15, 1976. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where they had three children: Elizabeth “Betsy,” Samuel, and Peter. In 1990, the family moved to Maryland and settled in Columbia.
Connie was proud to be a homemaker and considered this to be her vocation and calling. Connie loved deeply and was deeply loved. She had a huge heart. She was a heavily involved member of Catonsville Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, Ruling Elder, and choir member for decades. She also served on the Worship Committee, led arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School, and was a leader in the larger Presbyterian Women community. Beyond the church, Connie volunteered with various organizations, including mentoring elementary school students, and donated generously to many causes.
Connie was a lifelong artist and crafter. She painted in watercolor and made many friends through years of classes. She knitted, wove textiles, sewed, and took photographs of nature, which she turned into greeting cards.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, David; her mothers, Ruth and Jane; her sister Anne Beaman; her brother David “Pete” Beaman; and her sister-in-law Ann Maree Beaman. She is survived by her husband of 49½ years, Wendel Dean; her children Betsy Hall (Alex), Sam Quick (Heather), and Peter Renner (Kumiko); and her grandchildren Summer Quick, Skyler Quick, Cedar Quick, Clara Hall, and Zinnia Hall. She is also survived by her siblings Debby Hopps (Bob), Tom Beaman (Jean), and John Beaman (Susan), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Catonsville Presbyterian Church, 1400 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Catonsville Presbyterian Church Envision Fund and to the Howard County Conservancy.
