Don enjoyed a distinguished career as the Chief Grants Management Officer at the NIH Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and served as Past President of the Society of Research Administrators (SRA). Yet his professional accomplishments were matched only by his devotion to family, where he found his greatest joy in the company of his grandchildren. A proud and ever-present supporter of their pursuits, Don could be found cheering them on at every game, from little league fields to college arenas. The love and memories he created will forever be cherished by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, support, and joy that will resonate through generations.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Don was known for his warmth, generosity, and infectious love of life. He was an avid golfer who treasured every round shared with family and friends. His passion for sports extended well beyond the fairway. He was a devoted season ticket holder for Maryland Terrapins basketball and football for many years, and a loyal fan of the Washington Capitals, Commanders, and Nationals.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; daughters Kim Canary (Chris) and Cindy Stillerman (Mike); and his treasured grandchildren: Tucker Canary (Reegan), Danny Canary (Marissa), Colleen Canary, Rick Narcisse (Maria), Andrew Stillerman, and Logan Stillerman. His legacy grows through his great-grandchildren, Zoey Stillerman and Lyla Narcisse.

The love and memories Don created will be forever cherished by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, steadfast support, and abiding joy that will resonate through generations.
