Edward Lewis, 95, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at his home in Catonsville. Edward was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 5, 1930, but called Carlisle, Massachusetts, home (and has lived in Maryland for the past 13 years). There will be a service to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 7, 1:00 pm, at River’s Edge Community Church (2414 Westchester Ave, Oella, MD 21043).
Edward was a man of many careers. He joined the Army Air Corps (which later became the U.S. Air Force) when he was 17 years old and served his country for the next 20 years. During that time, he was a radio operator in the Korean War, a member of a top secret forward-guidance unit in Germany, and the administration supervisor for the Air Force Chaplains Writer’s Board. Upon his Air Force retirement, he became a technician for microwave communications equipment until an opportunity arose to become the Quality Assurance Department lead for Raytheon. He began his fourth career in his 70’s when he became the pastor of a church in western Massachusetts. He was a HAM radio operator, an avid audiophile and an enthusiastic church leader.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, (2014) to whom he was happily married for 61 years, and he gladly adopted Nancy’s Swedish heritage. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law (Dane and Jo), and grandsons, Dan (wife, Dana) and Matt (wife, Rachel).
Ed will be remembered for being a great friend and strong conversationalist, for his real faith and as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a great laugh.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gilchrist Hospice or River’s Edge Community Church, Oella, MD.
Again, friends and family are invited to a service to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 7, 1:00 pm, at River’s Edge Community Church (2414 Westchester Ave, Oella, MD 21043).
