Gertrude Elizabeth Potter, affectionately known by many as Betty, peacefully passed away on August 1, 2026, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 23, 1944, Betty's life was a vibrant tapestry, woven together with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Family remained at the very heart of all Betty did, and her warmth leaves an enduring legacy in those who survive her. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Carrie Burke and her husband Paul Ekstrom Jr, and by her son Douglas Potter and his wife Kelli Potter. Her grandchildren—Autumn Burke, Anthony Holmes, Justin Ahmer, Joshua Ahmer, and Jake Potter—will always treasure the memories they created with their grandmother. Betty's great-grandchildren, JJ Ahmer and Camden Ahmer, remain a living testament to the joy and pride she took in her growing family.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lynn Short and Laura Turner, by her brother William Steiner, and by her sister-in-law Janet Steiner. Each of them carries forward the joyful spirit that Betty so effortlessly shared with all.

In the quiet moments and simple pleasures, Betty found her greatest happiness. She was known for her love of family gatherings, never missing a chance to be surrounded by the laughter, stories, and warmth that meant everything to her. Her garden flourished under her care, and many remember Betty sitting on her front porch, coffee in hand, watching hummingbirds dart gracefully around their feeders and on occasion they would stop and flutter in mid air to chirp at her.These moments reflect her appreciation for the beauty that surrounded her every day.

Though Betty now rejoins her dear departed loved ones, including her mother Gertrude Elizabeth Steiner her father William Charles Steiner ,her brother Lawrence Allen Steiner and her brother-in-law Donald Short. Her memory lives on with those who were so fortunate to know and love her. Her friendship, kindness, and the warmth she shared will be forever cherished.

As Betty wished, her family will be holding a celebration of life in the near future. Friends and family will come together, remembering and honoring a woman whose generous spirit and unwavering love left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Betty’s joyful heart, love for life, and the legacy she leaves behind in the hearts of her family will be treasured always. Those who had the privilege of calling her family or friend are better for having known her, and her memory will eternally bring a smile to their souls.
