Gilbert Lee Sheets

Gilbert L. Sheets, (85) devoted husband of Ruth E. Sheets for 64 years of marriage, passed away on August 25th, 2026 after a lengthy illness. He passed away peacefully at home. He leaves behind three children. Gerald L. Sheets, (Donna), Christopher S. Sheets and Sandra L. Sheets. Gilbert also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Gilbert was born and raised in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He had a great love for the mountains and the forest. As a young boy in North Carolina, he had a beloved horse named Zeb, which he fondly spoke of, all the time. He also loved to travel, which he fortunately was able to do before his retirement. He will be surely missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Foster Sheets, brother Ardale Sheets, and his sister Faye Place. He leaves behind two sisters, Marlene Schaub and Mazie Foster. A private memorial for close friends and family will be held in his memory.
