Harry J. Dingle Sr., beloved husband, father, grandparent, uncle, and brother, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025. He was 79.
A man of resolute integrity and faith, he will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his professional accomplishments as an educator and entrepreneur, and his aptitude for bringing people together.
Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Louise (Doyle) Dingle, and their children John Dillard Dingle (Debbie) of Juno Beach, FL, Mary Jean (Dingle) Wojewodzki (Ryan) of Elkridge, MD, and Harry Jules Dingle Jr. (Emily Hage) of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, brothers Frank Dingle and Bill Dingle (Diane), and sisters Margaret Klimm (Bob) and Louise Pascal.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Dingle and Leona (Conter) Dingle, brother-in-law Bob Pascal and sister-in-law Kendall (Fuhrman) Dingle.
Born on February 9, 1946 in Annapolis, MD, he grew up in Elkridge, MD, graduated from Calvert Hall College High School, received a bachelor's degree from Mount Saint Mary’s, and a Masters from the University of Maryland. He was a 5th-generation printer and his career is notable for accomplishments as a printing teacher and business owner. Harry taught printing at Patterson High School, Westside Skill Center, and Howard Vo-Tech Center. A mentor to many students, he assisted in job placement, encouraged entrepreneurship, and coached students in regional and national trade skills competitions. As founder of Dingle Printing, which he ran with his wife Mary Louise, he developed a business known for both offset printing and commitment to the traditional craft of letterpress printing that he learned from his father.
Harry had a passion for sailing and speedskating, pursuits that he enjoyed both recreationally and competitively. He spent countless hours on the Chesapeake Bay sailing with friends, family, and his formidable Wednesday night racing crew. A lifelong speedskater, his love of the sport gained momentum when he aged into the Masters division, where he was an accomplished competitor nationally and internationally in short and long track speedskating championships. Whether gracefully gliding across the rink or skillfully navigating open waters or enjoying an Orioles game with family and friends, Harry found comradery and serenity in his pastimes.
A devoted student of history, Harry was determined not to let the darkest chapters of the past repeat themselves. Together with his wife, Mary Louise, he united his faith and love for his country by actively fighting for justice in all its forms—demonstrating his convictions through actions, not just words.
A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Friday, June 6, 2025 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church located at 5990 Old Washington Road, Elkridge, Maryland 21075.
