On July 9, 2026, James Thomas St. Amant peacefully passed away at his residence, surrounded by his devoted family. Jim was born on January 15, 1956 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the late Dr. Alvin F. St. Amant and Nancy Webb St. Amant. He spent the initial three decades of his life in Baton Rouge, where he resided with his family. In 1995, Jim relocated to Baltimore, where he met and married the love of his life, Kathy Durm. He has resided in Baltimore for the past three decades. Jim was a gentle and compassionate individual, always extending a kind word to everyone he encountered. His family was everything to him. He faced life’s adversities with courage and grace and he will be deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nancy and Alvin St. Amant, and his brothers, Alvin Francis St. Amant, Jr., and Guy Stanhope St. Amant. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Durm St. Amant, stepchildren Christopher Durm, Barry Durm Jr., and his wife, Lindsey Barahona-Durm, and affectionately known as Jim Pop to Andrew Jankiewicz, Alexander Durm, and William Durm. Additionally, he is a loving brother to Anna St. Amant Wilkinson, Marie Juliette St. Amant, John Webb St. Amant, Marianne St. Amant, Marshall St. Amant (Gabriella), Susan St. Amant Baumler (Bill), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends everywhere.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care or the Benevolent Fund of Charlestown Retirement Community in Jim’s memory.
A funeral mass will be held on August 4th, 2026, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, located at 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, Maryland 21228. Visitation will commence at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 12:00 PM.
A memorial mass will be held in Jim’s honor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on August 14th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church
