James (Jim) Joseph Sugden, born on July 25, 1947, in Clifton Heights, PA, began his journey in the world characterized by kindness and a vibrant smile. He left this life on December 4, 2024, in Bel Air, MD.
Jim was a Vietnam Veteran, having enlisted in the Army in 1966 and receiving an honorable discharge in 1969. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and served the 545th Personnel Service Company Third US Army. Educated at Harford Community College, Jim earned an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting 1997.
A devoted family man, he is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Sugden, who was a steadfast partner in his life’s journey. Additionally, they were blessed to be surrounded by their children, Karina and Steve Jackson, and Justin Buchwald. He cherished his grandchildren: Brittney, Zachary, Tyler, Joel and Ryan, who filled his life with laughter and happiness. The joy of family continued with three great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Gabe, and Eden, who brought him immense delight in his later years.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Jack, Karen, Debbie, Terry, Denny, Steve, and Lori. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jack and Helen Sugden, and his brother, Larry Sugden.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 10:00am at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Bel Air, MD. Interment at later date, West Brookfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to woundedwarriorproject.org
