Jayakar Gnanadoss

It is with deep sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved, Jayakar Jacob Gnanadoss ("Jay"), on July 14, 2026.

Jay dedicated his life to others. A devoted father, son, brother, teacher, mentor, and friend, he was known for his kindness, humility, generosity, and genuine care for those around him. Whether in the classroom, at church, in his community, or with family and friends, Jay always looked for ways to encourage others and make a difference.

For more than four decades, Jay dedicated himself to education, shaping generations of young people with wisdom, patience, and compassion. He was admired not only as an exceptional educator, but as a mentor and friend whose lessons in integrity and perseverance continue through the many students whose lives he touched.

Above all, Jay was a devoted family man and a dear friend who brought wisdom, humor, encouragement, and unconditional love to those closest to him. He embraced life with curiosity and gratitude, traveling the world, exploring new cultures, and enjoying small seaside towns, long walks by the water, and his favorite meal—fish and chips. A lifelong soccer fan, he cherished attending the FIFA World Cup and sharing his love of the game.

He is survived by his beloved sons, Vas and Nish, his sisters - Vasanthi, Ananthi, Anita, and Shanti, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, colleagues, parishioners, and friends.

While we are deeply saddened, we are comforted by a lifetime of happy memories, the countless lives Jay influenced, and the enduring legacy he leaves behind. His kindness, wisdom, and dedication to others will continue to inspire all who knew him.

The memorial service for Jay Gnanadoss will be held on Friday, July 31st. Please see below for the schedule and details.
