Jo-Anne Blythe Saxe, born on November 6, 1942, in New Haven, Connecticut, passed peacefully on July 20, 2025, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. A cherished mother, grandmother, and partner, Jo-Anne's life was marked by her deep passion for learning and her dedication to those around her.
Jo-Anne enjoyed a varied and fulfilling career, ultimately retiring as an Admissions Counselor at American University. Her commitment to education was further reflected in her academic achievements, holding a Master's degree in Psychology. A nurturing spirit, she found great joy in helping others navigate their educational paths.
An avid traveler, Jo-Anne explored the world with an insatiable curiosity, constantly seeking new experiences. Her interests were wide-ranging, spanning literature, writing, psychology, and gardening. One of her proudest accomplishments was authoring "The Walk," a testament to her love for storytelling.
Jo-Anne is survived by her four children: Dawn (Jim), Carie, Rebecca, and Mark (Amy), who will forever remember her love and guidance. She took immense pride in her grandchildren, Drew (Lindsey), Jacob (DJ), Ronald, Kelsey, Zachary, and Thomas, as well as her great-grandchild, Josephine. She is also survived by her sisters Gail, Jeanette (Sam), Katie (Rich), her brother John (Stacy) and her step-mother Lois. In addition, she shared a loving partnership with David Grayson, who was by her side during her final days.
Jo-Anne's legacy is one of compassion, intellect, and creativity. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara McClusky, and her sister, Linda Kulscar.
A memorial will be held at Crossroads Church in Eldersburg, Maryland on Friday, July 25, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to: St. Jude's in Jo-Anne Saxe's memory.
