John Barrouk, a man whose life was a testament to joy, generosity, and unwavering positivity, peacefully passed away on June 3, 2026, in Timonium, Maryland. Born on November 14, 1932, in Jifna, Palestine, John carried with him a loving spirit that brightened the lives of everyone who knew him.
Throughout his 93 years, John’s infectious laughter and joyful demeanor became a beacon of warmth and comfort to family, friends, and community alike. His remarkable ability to find light in every moment and to share that light generously left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to cross his path. Known for his loving heart, John’s presence was a source of encouragement and happiness, uniting those around him with kindness and grace. He and his wife, Mary, made everyone feel like they were part of their family when they ran the Mediterranean Palace in Baltimore. Their delicious home made food, along with genuine love for their customers, led to lifelong relationships that continued after they retired.
John was a devoted family man, cherishing the close bonds he shared with his surviving loved ones. He is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Salim (Sherry) and Joseph (Jennifer), and his two daughters, Laila O'Brien (Patrick) and Lillian. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Kayla (Parker Magness), Peyton, Kaitlyn, Tristen, Alanna, Michael, and Alexander, each carrying forward the values of love and positivity that he so deeply embodied.
John’s journey on this earth was intimately shared with his beloved wife Mary, née Salameh, to whom he was married for 58 years. Their partnership enriched his life profoundly, and she preceded him in death by just four days, a poignant testament to their lifelong bond.
As we reflect on John Barrouk's life, we honor a man whose optimistic spirit, infectious humor, and generous nature made the world a brighter place. His memory will live on richly in the hearts of his family and all who were privileged to know him.
