John (Craig) Schisler

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Craig) Schisler, lovingly known as “The General’’, devoted husband, father, and father-in-law. Craig passed away peacefully at his home in Towson, MD, surrounded by his family, on August 24, 2025, at the age of 70.

Born in Baltimore, Craig was the son of the late John G. Schisler and Ann (Emmart) Schisler and brother of the late Mark Schisler.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne O’Connell Schisler; his son, John Schisler; his daughter, Brennan Schisler; his daughter-in-law, Kate Schisler; as well as many cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Craig, affectionately named “The General”, was adored by friends and family alike, for his vivacious personality and tenacious spirit. He had a lifelong passion for lacrosse, Towson High School and especially Roanoke College and his fraternity Sigma Chi. He worked for 32 years for Kraft Foods, formerly Nabisco. Most important in his life were his beloved children, John and Brennie, to whom he devoted his life and his daughter in law Kate, whom he adored.

A private burial and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Roanoke College, online @ Roanoke.edu/givetoday or by mail to Gifts Management, Roanoke College, 221 College Lane, Salem, VA 24153 in memory of Craig Schisler.
