Joseph Gerst

Joseph Wallace Gerst, 37, of York,PA passed away surrounded by love on March 12, 2026. Born in York, Pennsylvania, Joe was known for a smile that could light up a room and a loyalty to those he loved that never wavered. Joe graduated from Hereford High School and went on to build a career doing what he loved as a chef. He took great pride in his work at Baltimore Country Club, here he truly enjoyed the people he worked with and the community he found there.

Above all else, Joe was a devoted father and a loving son, partner, and friend. His greatest joy in life was his daughter, Joella Gerst-Webber, whom he loved beyond measure. He also shared a special bond with Julie’s son, Jaxson Wilhelm, and cherished the time they spent together as a family.

Joe loved sprint cars and was also a passionate sports fan who loved Penn State football and cheering on the Boston Red Sox, Green Bay Packers, and Philadelphia Flyers—teams that became family traditions to follow together.

Joe will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter, Joella Gerst-Webber; Julie Webber, the mother of his child, and her son, Jaxson Wilhelm; his grandmother, Shirley “Mamaw” Kline; his father, Joseph Wallace Gerst, and stepmother, Crystal Propst Gerst; his half-sister, Stacy Krout; his uncle, John Kline and wife Jennifer Kline; and his cousins, Katie and Shaun Kline.

A private family service will be held.
