Kathleen Ann Ford, known affectionately as Kathy, was born on August 7, 1951, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She passed away on February 8, 2026, in Towson, Maryland, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was a beloved figure, well-regarded for her kindness, leadership qualities, and wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around her.
Kathy pursued a career as a federal employee, dedicating her efforts to the Department of Energy and the Department of Labor. Her commitment to her work was evident, and she took pride in her contributions to the public sector. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in science from Bowie State College, where she laid a strong educational foundation that supported her career endeavors.
Kathy's legacy as a mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother was exceptional. She cherished the moments spent with her family, particularly during the holidays, when her warmth and love were especially palpable. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family members, including her son, David M. Ford; daughter-in-law, Mireya N. Ford; and her cherished grandchildren, Heidi E. Ford, Joseph I. Ford, Melinda Picott, and their respective families.
Kathy also found joy in being a great-grandmother to Charlotte Ford, Amelia Ford, Ryleigh Picott, and Justin Picott. Her nurturing spirit extended to her siblings Michael Breslin, Marianne Waugh, Janice Doyle and Joanne Breslin, alongside extended family members Dylan Waugh, Emily Waugh, Audrey Waugh, Carley Waugh, Keith Doyle, Claire Doyle, Nadia Pechacek, Mitchell Pechacek, and Kynlee Pechacek.
Beyond her family, Kathy shared a special bond with her close friend Valerie Veatch, with whom she enjoyed traveling and experiencing new adventures. Kathy also had a passion for reading and indulged in various arts and crafts, showcasing her creative spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph R. Breslin and Barbara Breslin, leaving behind a rich tapestry of loving memories and an enduring impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Kathleen Ann Ford will be remembered as a dedicated individual whose love for family and friends enriched the lives of many. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
