Lisa Jo Hitchens

May 16, 1964 — September 26, 2024

Catonsville

In loving memory of Lisa Jo Hitchens. She graced this world with her presence on May 16, 1964, in Kokomo, Indiana. At the age of 60, Lisa took her last breath on September 26, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Lisa passed as gently as a summer breeze. It was as if the angels quietly came and softly lifted her away to the Kingdom of Heaven, where her beloved Lord surely welcomed her with open arms.

She is survived by her current husband, Francis (Dutch) Flynn, sons Paul (Jennifer) Hitchens, Toby (Angela) Hitchens, daughters Sarah Miles, and Morgan Hitchens Real. Lisa had 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who were the absolute joy of her life. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Lauderbaugh, and husband Bernie Hitchens.

Lisa began her career with the National Security Agency right out of high school in 1981 and retired in 2019. During her time at NSA, she held numerous positions, successfully working her way up to the rank of Chief of Staff. During her 38-year career, Lisa selflessly volunteered for overseas deployments in England, Iraq and Afghanistan in support of her country.

From her time as a devoted Girl Scout leader from 1995 to 2008, she received the Citizen of the Year award from the Knights of Columbus in 2003. Lisa was a parishioner and active member at Christ Church Camden in Kingsland, Georgia where she enjoyed a close Christian community. She was known to volunteer with the Church supporting multiple events. Lisa found many ways to volunteer and give back, even helping as an elections worker in Georgia.

In her free time, Lisa loved to travel, whether it was on her Harley or in her camper to various beaches in the Southeast. She especially loved her recent trips to Puerto Rico. And sports were always a big part of Lisa’s life. She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs (it’s in the DNA) and cheered on the Baltimore Ravens.

Lisa was joy personified. Her contagious smile and brilliant sense of humor brightened every room she entered. As we bid farewell to Lisa, we carry with us the memories of her grace, humor, loving kindness, and her hope-filled spirit. Her legacy will live on through all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation scheduled for 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on October 24, 2024, at MacNabb Funeral Home, P.A. 301 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD. On Friday October 25 at 1:00 PM, a celebration of life will be held at Faith Community Church, 1306 Riedel Road, Gambrills, MD 21054.
