Lonzy Brewton, Jr.

Lonzy Brewton, affectionately called Gabriel or Gabe by close friends and family, was born the oldest of seven children born to Lonzy Brewton Sr. and Sarah E. Brewton. He grew up in Baltimore,Maryland. They grew up in the Edmondson Village community. He was asked to take on the role as the man of the house after our father passed away due to illness and our mother worked to support our family.

Lonzy (Gabriel) enjoyed good times with his brothers and sisters, not to mention he had lots of friends. He loved having fun. Some of his favorite things were listening to old-school music, dancing, telling jokes, and when he laughed, you'd laugh too. He was really a funny person. Gabriel played percussion in a neighborhood band, but when he was alone he wrote poetry. He would say it was a masterpiece.

Lonzy met and married Phyllis Duncan after several years of marriage. They divorced only to find each other years later and enjoyed 16 years of happiness together until his recent passing due to a serious illness.

Some of Lonzy's accomplishments were completing high school, GED, Job Corp training, after he served in the National Guard for a few years. He also worked as a laborer at various places of employment.

His most recent place of employment was O'Donnell Honda in Westminster, detailing cars and doing maintenance. Lonzy later moved from the Woodlawn area to Owings Mills and found his dream job working at R.E. Michel Company in Glen Burnie MD. He worked as a forklift driver and did shop maintenance. Lonzy was fond of the coworkers, especially Will, who would say, "Lonzy, have fun!" as he started his shift. Besides, that was his happy place; he enjoyed his time there.

Lonzy was a compassionate man, a gentle man, who lived his life in simplicity. We will miss him very much.

Lonzy leaves behind siblings: Bernard, Shirley, Stanley, Dale. He also leaves Gloria, Debbie, Tiara, and Kevin. Most of all, the love of his life, Phyllis Duncan, her son JR, and four sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and associates.
