Louis Christian Haug

April 10, 1956 — May 29, 2025

Louis Christian “Chris” Haug passed away at home unexpectedly last week. Chris is the son of Joan Rose (Harsch) Haug and Louis Christian Haug. He was born in Findley OH on April 10, 1956. 

Chris graduated from Marion High School in 1974. He graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Environmental Science and Engineering where he was a member of Acacia Fraternity. He graduated from Loyola University in Maryland with his MBA with an accent in Accounting and Finance. Chris attended Wharton School in the Continuing Education Program of Business Administration, Management and Operations. 

Chris was an Entrepreneur at heart and was involved in the start up of several businesses through the years including Founder/CEO of 360 Venture Management Group and Azru Lacrosse Equipment. 

He more recently was actively involved as the Maryland Chapter Director of StartUp Grind. He served at the University of Maryland (bwtech) in several capacities including as ADJ Faculty Member. He was instrumental in coordinating the partnership between bwtech @ UMBC and StartUp Grind MD and the development of the StartUP Accelerator Program at bwtech @ UMBC. Chris served as a mentor, counselor and confidante to many.

 Chris loved music and was a member of the 26th Street Singers during high school. He was an avid reader and a student of The Stoics. He was also a Big Brother through Big Brothers/Big Sister Association for many years. 

Besides his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his sister Lori Ann (Haug) Smith and his step-son Jason Krepner. He is survived by his wife Susan Haug, sister Jody Jewell and her husband Tom, Nephew Louis (Crystal) Herring and Niece Cassie (Todd) Korporal; great nephew and great nieces Ty, Hailey, Paige and Alora; cousins Jill Phillips and Jody (Dan) Holstein and their son Jared.

 Per Chris’s wishes, there will be no service. Per his request, donations in his memory may be made to your local animal shelter or a substance abuse program. Please honor his memory by finding a way to be a mentor to someone who needs you.
