Mamie Marie McNamee, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Stella Maris on March 11, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on August 25, 1943, in Baltimore County, Maryland, Mamie was the cherished daughter of Anton Schultz and Mamie Wagner. Her journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Mamie’s life was a testament to her warm-hearted nature and her ability to light up any room with her quick wit and infectious smile. She possessed a rare talent for making people feel valued and cherished, effortlessly spreading joy and laughter to those she met. Her humor and kindness will be deeply missed, but her spirit and laughter will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
In 1961, Mamie married Calvin McNamee, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their 38-year marriage was a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Calvin predeceased her, but their legacy of love continues to inspire their family.
Mamie was a devoted mother to her children, Anton (Tony) and Steven Marx, always supporting them with an open heart and open arms. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Anna and Michael Marx, and her great-grandchild, Riley Marx, who cherished every moment with their beloved “Nana.”
Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a constant source of strength and encouragement to her sister, Patricia (Patsy) Cross. The bonds they shared were unbreakable, filled with treasured memories and a deep understanding that only sisters can have.
Throughout her career, Mamie was a self-employed general house and business cleaner for over three decades. She found immense satisfaction in her work, building lasting relationships with her clients who appreciated not only her services but the warmth and cheer she brought into their homes and businesses. Her dedication was evident, and she took pride in her hard work and the trust she earned.
Mamie’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and compassion. She is predeceased by her parents, Anton Schultz and Mamie Wagner, her husband Calvin McNamee, and her grandson, Frederick Marx Jr. Though she has departed from this world, her memory will forever be a guiding light.
As we celebrate Mamie’s life, we remember her as a beacon of joy and someone who knew how to make life brighter and more beautiful for everyone she encountered. Her spirit will continue to shine through the stories we share, the laughter we echo, and the love we pass on in her name.
