Marie Lucido was born on December 22, 1950, and passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 74. She left this world surrounded by loved ones, closing a life defined by strength, devotion, and unwavering love for her family.
A lifelong Bronx resident, Marie grew up in Paterson Houses as one of ten children—a big, bustling family that helped shape her deep sense of loyalty, resilience, and care for others. From an early age, she learned the values of family and determination, qualities that guided every chapter of her life.
Marie was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, sister, friend, and a proud Catholic. Known for her extraordinary work ethic, she woke up at 4 a.m. every day to ride the 6 train to work, from the Bronx to as far as Flatbush, BK. She started her career as an elementary school teach and then a postal worker. Later, she built a remarkable career in hospital administration across NYU, Mt. Sinai and SUNY Downstate Hospital, rising from secretary to director with intelligence, grit, and a commitment to excellence. Those who worked alongside her saw her as dependable, steady, and deeply dedicated.
At home, Marie’s generosity was limitless. She was selfless to her core—always ready to give, to help, and to comfort. She cared for everyone around her and would offer the shirt off her back without hesitation.
Marie leaves behind her beloved children, Michael and Emerita, and her cherished grandchildren, Jasmine, Zade, and Soraya. Her love for them was fierce and unwavering—the heart of her life’s purpose.
Marie will be remembered for her strength, her compassion, her faith, and the boundless love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the family who adored her.
Her memorial mass will take place on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 11am at Holy Family Church (2158 Watson Avenue, the church faces Castle Hill Avenue) in the Bronx. There will be refreshments following the mass at the community hall downstairs.
