Mary Barrouk, a joyful and fun-loving spirit, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Timonium, Maryland. Born on November 15, 1942, in Jerusalem, Palestine, Mary embraced life with warmth and kindness that touched all who knew her.
Mary was a remarkable woman whose incredible talents extended beyond her vibrant personality. She was an exceptional cook, known for her generous hospitality and the countless meals she lovingly prepared for family and friends. Her home was a place of comfort and joy, where gatherings were filled with laughter and delicious food. Mary also nurtured a passion for needlepoint and cross-stitch, skills she cultivated with patience and artistry.
Her dedication to education and service was evident throughout her life. She taught Braille in Ramallah, empowering others with the gift of literacy. Additionally, Mary volunteered for United Cerebral Palsy, demonstrating her compassion and commitment to improving the lives of those living with disabilities.
Mary is survived by her loving family who carry forward her legacy of love and generosity. She leaves behind two sons, Salim and his wife Sherry, and Joseph and his wife Jennifer; two daughters, Laila O'Brien and her husband Patrick, and Lillian. Her joy extended to seven cherished grandchildren: Kayla, who is married to Parker Magness, Peyton, Kaitlyn, Tristen, Alanna, Michael, and Alexander. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Suad Jadallah and Samia Saba and her devoted brother, George Salameh, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and devoted friends.
A profound love story marked her life through her marriage to John, her husband of 58 years, who passed away just four days after her. Their enduring bond remains an inspiring testament to their shared life and love.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Mary's honor on Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Stella Maris Chapel, located at 2300 Dulaney Valley Rd in Timonium, MD 21093. Friends and family are invited to gather and remember a woman whose vitality and spirit enriched the lives of so many. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Central PA.
Mary Barrouk's legacy is one of joy, love, and selflessness, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
