Mary Jane Upton

Mary Jane (Seaton) Upton passed away on July 7, 2026, in Howard County, Maryland. She was 88 years old.

Born on December 11, 1937 to George and Evelyn (Lowry) Seaton, MJ grew up in Richmond, Virginia, attended Averett College, and later moved to Maryland where she spent her adult life as an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Ellicott City. She sang in the church choir for many years and served the congregation as its wedding coordinator, organizing and directing logistics for numerous couples over the decades.

She is survived by her children, Stacy (Upton) Korbelak and her husband Matthew Korbelak, and Scott Upton and his partner Amy Johnson. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Nikolas Korbelak (Christi), Benjamin Korbelak (Lindsey), Joshua Korbelak (Meghan), Katerina (Korbelak) Tripp, (Timothy), Neva Upton and Zoe Upton, as well as six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Bethany United Methodist Church in Ellicott City.
