Matthew Kim Prince

Matthew Prince, 54, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away quietly on August 8, 2026, at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital after battling cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Matthew was a gifted gardener, had a sharp intellect, and was a self-taught polyglot. He found the most joy in caring for those in his community and tending to the landscapes of his clients’ gardens. As he worked in nature and connected with people, he always brought a quick wit, curiosity, and steadfastness to every encounter.

Those who worked alongside him received his unflinching kindness and deep respect. He made ordinary moments feel extraordinary to those he cared about.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Young Ja Park; his siblings, brother Joshua Prince and sisters Elizabeth Neylon, Dr. Mary Prince, Nami Shin, and Hyosuk Shin; his brother-in-law Thomas Neylon; and many nieces and nephews.
