MELVIN JOHN KOPP July 4, 1941 - October 12, 2025
Melvin J. Kopp passed away on October 12, 2025, after a long illness holding hands with his loving wife, Donna.
Mel, nickname (Moose), loved life and brought happiness to all who knew him. First and foremost was his love for his family. He loved cooking for family but was also known to enjoy cooking for over three hundred at church gatherings. When Mel went hunting with his boys, he would do more cooking than hunting. He enjoyed camping with his family when they were young and continued through his 80's. He loved being near the ocean and anything to do with kayaking and tenting on the sand dunes of Assateague Island.
He delighted in celebrating his birthday on the 4th of July and highly respected his flag and country.
Mel worked at General Motors for 27 years on the assembly line.
He was always ready and willing to help anyone. Mel was a natural carpenter and fixer upper. He met his wife Donna, when she had a problem with a hot water heater and went to a neighbor to ask for help the neighbor said, "go up the street to Moose's house, he helps everybody." That was the introduction to a blessed, happy, precious marriage of 18 years filled with great faith in God. Mel, Donna and God as one.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Donna of 18 years, his children Jeff, Anna, Darren and Brian and their spouses, also his grandchildren Robby, Ashley, Jenny, Kristen, Jeffrey, Jason, Jace, Gracie, Adrianna, Nick, Alexia and two step daughters and their children who loved him dearly.
He is predeceased by his loving first wife Patricia.
