Myong Cha Yun Graham (Ms. Yun), born on June 19, 1954, in Seoul, Korea, passed away at home in Odenton, MD, with her children at her side. She had bravely battled lung cancer for 8 months. Yun was preceded in death by her parents, Father, Yong Chul Yun, and Mother, Kyong Sun Yi, her husband Joseph Adamiak, and sister, Myong Suk. She is survived by her daughter Tina Banfield (John) and son Michael Graham (Katherine), grandsons, John Banfield Jr and Isiah Graham, granddaughters, Brianna, Tianna, Naudia, and Kaiyah. She is also survived by two brothers, Chang Ho and Chang Su (Yun Cha), a sister, Myong Son Sargent, and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Yun married Mark Graham, a US Air Force Sergeant in Korea, and traveled with him to Texas, Florida, South Dakota, and back to Korea several times. She fell in love with the United States and quickly became a US citizen. She moved to Odenton, MD, with her two young children in 1985.
She worked as a waitress at the New Star Inn and, before long, owned the Inn and the building. Yun and her late husband, Joe, worked together at the bar for many years. She was very congenial with customers, many of whom became close friends. She always made time for everyone. The New Star Inn was her life’s passion, and she survived the mandated, lengthy COVID closure and has brought it back to a thriving business today.
Yun was an outstanding golfer, winning many trophies in MD and other states. She had multiple hole-in-one achievements, a feat that many golfers never earn. Her most memorable hole-in one was at the Oglebay Park Resort in Wheeling, WV, while golfing with Joe and his sister, Carol Adamiak Yarnall.
Yun was an outstanding and enthusiastic cook, specializing in steaks and ribs as well as Korean delicacies.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the New Star Inn, 1680 Annapolis Rd. Odenton, MD on Sunday, March 8 at 3:00 PM. On Monday, March 9, at 10:45 AM, an internment service will be held at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21113. Ms Yun’s ashes will be placed beside her beloved husband, MSgt Joseph Adamiak.
