Noreen Margaret Christian (nee Miller) was born at Saint Agnes Hospital on 16 January 1936. With her son and daughter-in-law at her side in her apartment at the Charlestown Retirement Community, she entered Eternal Life on 28 March 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Christian III, her father Alexander Miller, and her mother and stepfather Sadie and Loyd Simmons. She is survived by her son Thomas Hussong-Christian and his wife Uta, son James Francis Christian and his wife Yu-Hui and Margaret “Maggie” Christian and her husband Tony. She was a grandmother to Madison, Kennedy and Jackson.
A graduate of Mount Saint Agnes College nursing program, Noreen embarked on a career as a nurse. On 22 August 1959, she married Tom then took time away from her career to care for her children. After her children reached their teenage years, Noreen returned to nursing where she worked as both a cardiac nurse and a general nurse. Noreen eventually retired from nursing and focused on gardening, being “Grandy” and trying to bring justice to the world. Noreen was active in her church and her community. She loved to cook, play bridge and participate in a variety of gatherings with “the Ocean City crowd.” Noreen loved to read; she was a lifelong learner. Noreen was an active member of the League of Women Voters, and she was an election monitor. Noreen participated in healthy political discussions with family and friends, and she donated to a variety of charities – both global and local. Noreen was loving, optimistic and caring. She always put the needs of others above her own, and she always left those whom she met just a little happier. Noreen lives on in each of our hearts and souls.
