Patricia Gariner

September 29, 1937 — September 19, 2025

Patricia (Pat) May Abbott Garnier, age 87, died on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Howard County, Maryland. Born in Harve de Grace, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian Abbott. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 58 years, William (Bill) Garnier in 2017.

She is survived by her three children, Jodi (Matt), Michelle (Eric), and Susan (Dennis). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Kellie, Shannon, Patrick, Danielle, Scott, Aaron, Matthew, Michael, and Stephen, as well as four great grandchildren: Tate, Logan, Brooks and Mason.

Patricia graduated from Harve de Grace High School and then attended the University of Maryland.

Pat often talked about being a “plane spotter” during her teen years on the cemetery hill during WWII. She and her childhood friends deemed themselves “The Local Lovelies” and have continued to stay in touch with one another.

Pat and Bill raised their family in Bel Air, Maryland. During that time, Pat was co-owner of the women’s clothing store, Ye Wooden Hanger, with her dear friend, Nancy Owen. She eventually transitioned into real estate and quickly became a top performer. Pat & Bill were avid golfers at Maryland Golf & Country Club. Pat often talked of her hole-in-one on the par 3, 16th hole like it happened yesterday.

After Bill’s retirement, Pat and Bill moved to Oconto Falls, Wisconsin where she continued her real estate career as co-owner of Metzler Hansen Realty. You could often find Pat and Bill with their friends at a local bar cheering on the Packers.

Pat and Bill lived in Wisconsin for 15 years before moving to The Villages in Florida. There they spent 5 years before their full circle return to Maryland.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Pat knew that she was always up for an adventure. She became a world traveler, taking annual “sister trips” with her sisters, Naomi Duffy and Catherine Anderson. Years after a trip, the three of them would recount “sister trip” stories over a game of pinochle and wine.

Pat will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A private memorial will be held by her family.
