Paul Donald Grodt of Jessup, Maryland passed away October 6, 2025 at John's Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. He was 42 years old.


Paul was born November 11, 1982 in Silver Spring, Maryland to John Douglas Grodt and his wife Christine “Tina” Muriel Grodt.


Paul earned a bachelor's degree in computer science at University of Maryland Baltimore County. He worked as a federal government contractor for the U.S. department of defense in cyber security and reverse engineering.


Paul was an accomplished musician; he played the trumpet and offered his services to Bugle Across America to play taps for veteran memorial services. He played in the Royal Knights Jazz Orchestra. He was proud to have taught trumpet lessons. He played countless other exotic instruments. Paul played many of them as a member of the Maryland performing group Pirates for Sail. He enjoyed theater and performed in musical productions at Laurel Mill Playhouse.


A public memorial service will be held at Linden Linthicum United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 25, at 3:30 P.M.


Paul was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his father, John Douglas Grodt of Grand Junction, Colorado, and his sister, Carolyn Lunking of Columbia, Maryland.
