Romayo Joseph Jerry Jr., affectionately known as Joey, passed away on April 3rd, 2026, at the University of Maryland Medical Center after a lengthy battle with complications stemming from substance abuse. Born as a twin on October 3rd, 1994, in Baltimore, MD, Joey brought light and laughter to those around him throughout his 31 years of life. Coming into this world, doctors said that Joey may never be able to walk, talk or thrive due to being born under challenging conditions. Not only did he thrive throughout his infancy and childhood despite the odds being stacked against him, but grew to be a strong and healthy young man.

Joey was a beacon of warmth and laughter, widely recognized for his easy-going personality and contagious sense of humor. His playful spirit and comedic timing had an uncanny ability to uplift those around him, and he would always go the extra mile to bring a smile to people's faces, especially his sisters. Children held a special place in his heart, perhaps because he held such a childlike innocence himself. Within his family, he was celebrated for his creative energy and compassionate heart. Above all, he was deeply connected to his twin sister Samantha Jerry, acting as her right hand and confidant, devoted to her unwaveringly.

Inspired by a deep passion for rap music, Joey nurtured dreams of a career where he could one day express his God-given talent and bring his creative voice to the world. Beyond his artistic aspirations, he also felt driven by a vision to build businesses that would serve his community. Joey’s ambition was to create opportunities that would improve the lives of those around him.

Joey leaves behind a loving family who cherished him deeply. He is survived by his mother Lori Joyner, twin sister Samantha Jerry, older sisters Amanda Joyner, Maranda Jerry, and Taylor Jerry, as well as younger sisters Romya Jerry and Lori Selby. Additionally he is survived by his extended family including many cousins who he was raised alongside, whom he considered siblings. His family's memories of him will remain treasured. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father, Romayo Joseph Jerry Sr., and his adoptive mother, Judith Jones.

Romayo Joseph Jerry Jr.’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and the desire to make a positive impact despite the reality of any situation. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, reflecting the generous and kind soul he was.
