“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39"
Salena was more than just a mom, a sister, a grandmother, a family member, or a friend—she was someone you could always count on. She had a heart full of generosity, always putting others before herself, and lighting up every room with her kindness and joy.
She made sure her children felt safe, supported, and deeply loved—always showing up with her full heart, no matter what life threw her way. Whether it was picking her kids up after a long day of work, standing up for them in school, or simply being a comforting presence, Salena gave her all. Her strength was quiet but powerful, and her love never wavered.
Salena’s love extended beyond her children to her cherished grandchild, Xyleik. She delighted in looking at his pictures and videos, often sharing stories about him with family. She lovingly sent him clothes and treasured every opportunity to talk about him, her heart full of pride and joy.
Even after being diagnosed with cancer, Salena lived each day with intention and light. She didn’t let pain define her. On her child’s 19th birthday, fresh from a chemo session and feeling exhausted, she got up and danced around the hotel room just to show how proud she was. That was who she was—joyful, full of life, and fiercely loving.
Salena had a creative and fun spirit. She loved to cook and experiment with new dishes, try on different styles of wigs, and learn crochet and embroidery. She had an eye for style and always carried herself with pride. She taught those around her how to be kind, how to stand up for themselves, how to manage life with grace, and how to carry themselves with confidence.
Salena was many things—warm, stylish, brave, funny—but above all, she was a warrior. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and joy that will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
