Sharon Brackett Schwab passed away at age 61. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of James Thomas Brackett Jr. and Janice Easton Brackett. Sharon devoted herself to her home and family and was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland.
Sharon’s faith in Jesus Christ was at the heart of her life. At age seven, she trusted Christ as her Savior after Pastor Dr. Pepper led her to the Lord at Faith Baptist Church near Glen Burnie, Maryland. She cherished Bible memory and Bible study, participated in ladies’ Bible study and Community Bible Study, and welcomed every opportunity to share her Savior with others. Philippians 4:13 and 2 Timothy 2:15 were among her favorite passages of Scripture.
As a high school sophomore on February 4, 1980, Sharon was struck by a car while crossing Ritchie Highway at Fifth Avenue in Glen Burnie. An EMT passing in his personal vehicle stopped to help, and she was airlifted to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Following a month in a coma and extensive rehabilitation, she persevered and graduated from high school in 1984. Sharon often spoke with gratitude of the Lord’s preservation of her life and of the salvation she had received through faith in Jesus Christ.
Sharon met John Schwab in 1986 while they were serving with Faith Baptist Church’s Awana Leaders in Training group. They married in 1988 and shared 38 years of marriage. Sharon found joy in counted cross-stitch, word searches, Little House on the Prairie, and Emergency! She also enjoyed cultivating orchids.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Schwab; her parents, James Thomas Brackett Jr. and Janice Easton Brackett; her sister, Kellee Metty, and her husband, Kirk; her brothers, James Brackett and his wife, Valerie, and Benjamin Brackett; and 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Virgil and Mildred Easton, and Gladys and James Brackett.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sharon’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland.
