Shawn Lewis

Tragically, on Sunday, June 14, after a brief illness, Shawn Lewis passed away at just 38 years old. He was a chosen son, a kind-hearted brother, a devoted uncle, a caring cousin and a loyal grandson. While his time with us was far too short, we feel exceptionally fortunate to have been a witness to his generous spirit and captivating smile.

Shawn was a hobby enthusiast who tried his hand at every outdoor adventure from snowboarding, skiing, skate boarding, lacrosse, to online gaming, pinball tournaments and playing guitar and the drums. He possessed a blind confidence which allowed him to excel at each new sport or activity he tried and take chances without the risk of failure. A lover of heavy metal bands, tattoos, sushi, ramen, retro video games, 80's action and horror movies, Shawn embraced new experiences and had a curious spirit. He was a committed employee and cherished member of this team at NIH for over 16 years, even earning the NIH Director's Award in 2021.

He is survived by his dedicated mother, Patty Lewis Brehm, his siblings Meagan, Stephanie (Brian), Lindsay (Matt), Brendan, Kristie (Matt) and Megan (Steven), as well as nephews Brady, Hudson and Kelly, nieces Payton, Lewis, Weston and Harper and grandmother, Kathryn Miller. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts and cousins whose memories of wonderful vacations at OBX will live on forever. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Ricky Lewis and Pete Brehm and grandparents Vic Lewis, Shirley Lewis and especially Don Miller.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Catholic Charities of Baltimore, the organization which facilitated Shawn's adoption from the Phillipines when he was 22 months old. He was extremely proud of his heritage and would want to support the organization that brought him to his forever family.

The family will host a celebration of life on Friday, June 19th at 1:00 pm at the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Reception Hall located on the carnival grounds at 1008 Twin Arch Road Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
