Ted Williams Goodwin, a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 67, following a courageous battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma. Remarkably, he faced this challenge with unwavering positivity from the moment of his diagnosis in August 2024, demonstrating his remarkable spirit until the very end, just one day shy of his birthday.

Born on February 3, 1958, in Oregon City, Oregon, Ted was the beloved son of James O. Goodwin and Gloria A. (Malloy) Goodwin. He graduated from West Linn High School and attended the University of Oregon for two years before moving to Austin, Texas, in 1980, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television, and Film at the University of Texas at Austin in 1986.

Ted's career spanned over 30 years in the food and beverage industry, where he made notable contributions at Abel's restaurant and Shiner Beer of Austin. In 1986, he opened a Corona Beer distributorship in Baltimore, Maryland, and later dedicated 20 years of service to Nestlé Food and Beverage. His commitment and exceptional performance led to him being honored with the VAMA Supplier of the Year award in 2016, a testament to his dedication to excellence.

In Austin, Ted married his beloved wife, Laurie, and celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in October. Together, they were proud parents to their daughter, Grace, whose happiness was always at the forefront of their lives. Ted took immense pride in his family, which included his brothers Thomas Goodwin and the late James Goodwin; his sisters Nancy and her husband Al Horn, Mary Goodwin, and Jane Goodwin; as well as nieces and nephews Kalei Goodwin, Summer Goodwin and her husband Dave Moryc, Robin and his wife Jackie Bostwick, Mimi and her husband Joel Hedges, Yusef and his wife Sara Alsuhaimi, and many grand nieces and nephews.

Ted was renowned for his warmth and kindness—he never met a stranger. His laughter and sense of humor brightened the lives of many who were fortunate enough to know him. He had an exceptional gift for making connections, impressing friends and family alike with his generosity and genuine love for those around him. His legendary coupon cutting, particularly for superb deals on chicken, was a testament to his resourcefulness and keen eye for savings. Sundays were reserved for watching CBS’s Sunday Morning, while clipping coupons from the paper, a ritual that changed in the digital age.

In his leisure time, Ted found joy in watching baseball games, especially supporting the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals, as well as cheering for the University of Oregon Ducks football team. He cherished playing catch in the backyard and riding his bike to retrieve the mail, all moments that encapsulated his love for the simple things in life.

Ted Williams Goodwin's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and unwavering support. He will always be remembered as a loving family man whose contributions to both his profession and his loved ones left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held in Annapolis, Maryland February 21st, and in Bend, Oregon, July 4th.
