Willard Dean Edman passed away at age 75 at Northwest Hospital in Baltimore County, MD, surrounded by family. He will be remembered for his generosity, his electrical work throughout the Baltimore region, his knack for fixing whatever broke, and most of all his love for his family.
One of ten children, Will was born on July 15, 1950 in Parkersburg, WV, to Burnie and Frances Edman (née Gantz). After the family moved to Baltimore, MD, Will began his lifelong career as an electrician. Will met his wife Diane (née Gray) at Pimlico Baptist Church. They started a family and spent their 50 years of marriage in Baltimore County.
Will was endlessly generous with family and friends, and always dropped everything to help someone who needed it. He would do anything for his children. He excelled at playing baseball and softball, and enjoyed going to Orioles games with his family. Will could often be found in his garden or helping family and friends. His favorite pastime in older age was playing with his granddaughter Nora. He loved making people laugh.
In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by his siblings Clinton, John, Linda, Howard, and Ronald; and his angel grandbaby.
Will is survived by his loving wife Diane, daughter Angela (Jason), son Brooks (Ellie), and his adoring granddaughter Nora. He is also survived by siblings Burnie, Rick, Carolyn, and Harold; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11am, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, MD. The family welcomes flowers sent the day prior, or donations to the American Stroke Association in Willard’s name.
